The easiest way (intermediate level of difficulty - red) to come to our hut is via the lake Gosausee – Gosau / Upper Austria.

Arrival by public transport:
By train till the station “Steeg-Gosau”, then take bus no. 542 direction Gosausee. You can find the timetable on this website.

Arrival by car:
There are public parking areas directly at the lake which you can use for free. Attention: At the very top of the parking area there´s a short-term parking zone.

When you arrived at the lake, you´ll start your 4-5h hike. First you walk a gravel road along the lake, until you arrive at another lake called “Hinterer Gosausee”. Then you follow the well-marked trail on the right side.

Preferably you start early due to warm temperatures, especially in the afternoon (lack of shadow).

Further ways to come to us:

  • From the cable car station “Dachstein Südwandbahn” via “Hallstätter glacier”, “Steinerscharte” and “Gosau glacier” in about 3h. This route is just recommended if you are well experienced in walking on glaciers and via ferrata.
  • From the valley “Filzmoos” via “Hofalmen” , “Rinderfeld”- so called “Linzerweg“- in about 5-6h. It´s a very alpine way with some steep passages and steel ropes to hold on.
In spring there´s still a lot of snow, therefore you can call us and we´ll give you an update if it´s possible to go this route or not.
  • For a longer hiking trip we recommend the “Dachstein Hüttenrunde” (high alpine four-day trail around the Dachstein connecting the huts Austriahütte, Guttenberghaus, Simonyhütte, Adamekhütte; only for well trained and experienced ones who are able to manage some steep and rope protected parts)
